Anthony Rainey is the Interim Finance Director of the City of Maywood, California. He has served as the Interim Finance Manager at the City of Rialto, Interim Finance & Administrative Services Director at the City of Bell Gardens, Interim Finance Director / Deputy Treasurer at the City of Santa Paula, Business Manager at the US Office of Personnel Management’s Federal Investigative Services, and Executive Officer at the US Department of Education. Anthony is an Adjunct Faculty member at the University of Maryland Global Campus teaching undergraduate information systems management courses and more recently at California Lutheran University teaching International Finance in their undergraduate business program. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Economy of Industrial Societies from UC Berkeley, a Master of Public Administration from the University of Washington, and a Master of Science in Information Systems Management from Seattle Pacific University.

He has monitored and provided comments to the Ventura General Plan Advisory Committee (GPAC) and is a member of both the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) and California Society of Municipal Finance Officers (CSFMO). In public finance he has participated in the development of economic development strategies that provide the context for policies, programs, and capital investments that municipal governments undertake to attract and retain business and residents, increase employment, promote private investment, and influence the type and location of development within a community.

Anthony enjoys walking the San Buenaventura Beach Trail and Ventura Botanical Gardens. He looks forward to collaborating with others to promote the mission, vision, and long-term goals and 5-year objectives of the Ventura Port District.
