Ventura Art & Street Painting Festvial
Seaside Street Painters & Art Vendors Line the Waterfront for 10th Annual Event at Ventura Harbor Village
10th Annual Ventura Art & Street Painting Festival, the premier chalk art event in Ventura, hosts the event seaside at Ventura Harbor Village on Saturday and Sunday, September 8th & 9th from
10 am – 5 pm. Admission and parking are complimentary, as artists from around Southern California create colorful chalk murals on the harbor promenade.
Ventura Art & Street Painting Festival is presented by Ventura County Arts Events, Inc and benefits both FOOD Share of Ventura County and Kids Arts, Inc.
Approximately 45 artists transform the sidewalks with color and wonder to the delight of visitors. In addition, many artists will display their original artwork at vendor booths located between Brophy Bros. Restaurant & Clam Bar and Andria’s Seafood Restaurant & Market.
Kids can join in to create their own art in the Children’s Chalk Area, hosted by Kids Arts, Inc. of Ventura. For $10, kids receive chalk and a sidewalk square where they can create their own colorful work of art.
World-renowned chalk artist and Ventura resident Tracy Stum will return to the festival for a second year, and accomplished artist Rod Tryon also returns with more than 30 years of street painting experience.
The artwork of artist Gus Moran is featured on the festival’s publicity this year. Moran, who has been street painting for fourteen years, says that the most enjoyable things about street painting are the interaction with the crowds and the appreciation people have for the artists’ work. He has been a featured artist at a number of Southern California festivals, and has been invited to festivals in other states and abroad. For Moran, street painting is sometimes a family affair, as every year he creates art with his kids at a street painting event in Pasadena. This will be Moran’s 5th appearance at the Ventura event.
