BUSINESS ASSISTANCE OPPORTUNITIES FOR HARBOR BUSINESSES
U.S. Small Business Administration Disaster Declaration
On February 26, 2016 the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) Office of Disaster Assistance made a formal disaster declaration regarding the recent harbor entrance closure. This announcement comes after close coordination between the California Office of Emergency Services (OES), Ventura County Sheriff OES, and the Ventura Port District. This disaster declaration paves the way for small business loans and other technical assistance programs for our harbor businesses who suffered economic losses from the event. SBA will be at Port District administrative offices located at 1603 Anchors Way Monday, February 29 to Thursday, March 3rd 8:00am to 5:00pm to meet with Harbor businesses to complete loan applications and provide additional information regarding technical assistance programs. Appointments and walk-ins are welcome. At the Ventura Harbor Entrance Update / Info. meeting held on Wednesday, February 3rd, the Ventura County Sheriff Office of Emergency Services (OES) provided “Estimated Disaster Economic Injury Worksheet for Businesses” and “Economic Assistance Survey” forms. If you did not attend the meeting or complete the forms, you may still do so. Please submit the forms to the Ventura Port District offices at 1603 Anchors Way attn.: Brian Pendleton, Business Operations Manager or at email@example.com. City of Ventura and Economic Development Collaborative Ventura County
The City of Ventura and the Economic Development Collaborative Ventura County (EDC-VC) both provide loan programs to local businesses. These funds are not related to disaster relief, but as such they are existing programs that you may want to evaluate for your business. For example some of these loan programs offer funds for on-going business operations. EDC-VC also provides a network of business consultants at no charge through their Small Business Development Center. The Small Business Development Center (SBDC) provides a variety of services including turn around assistance consulting.
