Make a splash this March as Ventura Harbor Village celebrates the 10th Annual “March Is Mermaid Month,” an enchanting seaside festival brimming with oceanic magic, mermaid encounters, and coastal fun for all ages!
Throughout the month of March 2025, visitors can immerse themselves in a whimsical, water-inspired world featuring live entertainment, ocean-themed treats, and exclusive seaside shopping specials. Set against the stunning backdrop of the Ventura Harbor coastline, this annual event invites mermaid enthusiasts, pirates, and ocean lovers alike to dive into a sea of unforgettable experiences.
The highlight of Mermaid Month is two special event days, taking place on Saturday, March 8, and Saturday, March 22, from 1–4 PM. These magical afternoons will bring the seaside to life with interactive experiences, including live mermaid meet-and-greets, a Mermaid Dance Party with DJ Darla, dazzling Bubble Magic by SB Bubble Guy, and live music from the Anacapa Ukulele Band and tropical steel drum performances.
Families and ocean lovers can explore hands-on activities such as Mermaid Poster Coloring, an ocean-themed Slime Station, and the Junior Explorers Sensory Bin. For an extra touch of sparkle, guests can visit the Face Painting & Glitter Bar and pose for a unique keepsake with Tropical Bird Photos.
On March 8, guests can enjoy additional experiences such as a Pirate Ship Play Zone, live chalk art creations, ocean-themed crafts by Las Posas Children’s Center, a bubble house, and an educational booth from the Surfrider Foundation promoting ocean conservation.
On March 22, visitors can witness a breathtaking Live Ice Sculpting Mermaid demonstration by Chef Jean Luc of Le Petit Café & Bakery, craft ocean-themed keepsakes with Lakeshore Learning, and design their own Mermaid Bracelet to take home.
Beyond the event days, Mermaid Month offers fin-tastic activities all month long. Guests can embark on a Mermaid Scavenger Hunt at Mermaid Gallery for a chance to win prizes, indulge in Mermaid Meals & Ocean-Inspired Eats, and shop for unique mermaid-themed apparel, dolls, jewelry, accessories, and artwork at Ventura Harbor Village’s specialty boutiques. Sweet treats include the must-try Fishzookies at Coastal Cone and handcrafted chocolates at Top This Chocolate. Dining options feature ocean-inspired eats like delicious Fish N’ Chips, clam chowder, calamari, fish tacos, ceviche, oysters, lobster, mermaid cocktails, and much more at Ventura Harbor Village waterfront eateries!
To make the experience even more immersive, kids and visitors are encouraged to dress up as mermaids, mermen, pirates, or their favorite ocean creatures. Costumes for kids are available at Mermaid Gallery (while supplies last) , mermaid crowns & ocean themed hats at Hats Unlimited, and mermaid socks available at Lost in Socks.
